If you have a child in nappies, consider using reusable ones. They are a great alternative to disposables.
Reusable nappies come in bright, funky colours with easy fastenings like Velcro and poppers. No need to worry about safety pins and soaking, they are a thing of the past. Local laundering services can collect and deliver nappies so you don't even have to worry about washing.
Disposable nappies are a growing environmental problem. They can double the waste produced by households with babies, and their mix of plastics and chemicals means they will remain in landfill for an estimated 500 years before breaking down.
Currently about eight million disposable nappies are thrown away every day in the UK.
For a list of local retailers who sell reusable nappies please see our nappy stockist list (pdf, 8 KB).
For advice on reusable nappies and information on any local incentives running in the area, please contact Go Real on 0800 328 8175 or email advice@realnappies.org.uk.
