Introduction
Situated at Frenchay Park Road (BS16), Begbrook Green is a peaceful, friendly, modern, local community park in north Bristol with something for everyone.
Access
Begbrook Green Park is open 24 hours. The park is very flat and, apart from the fact that the paved paths are in only linear (not circular) routes, is accessible for wheelchairs.
Buildings and structures
There are changing rooms for the all weather pitches and football pitches.
Developments
The land upon which the park is located is held under covenant from National Playing Fields Association and therefore cannot be built upon. The Bowling Club, however, does have planning permission to build an extension to the changing rooms on the site and is looking for funds.
History
The park was constructed after World War Two on the site of what was prefabricated housing. At the far end of the site some old apple trees remain from the gardens of the prefabs.
Play facilities and activities
There are currently two dog-free playgrounds and a trim trail.

Plants and wildlife
The park has a variety of mature trees and hedges. These, together with its proximity to Oldbury Court Estate, provide valuable shelter to a variety of wildlife, ranging from butterflies to birds. There is plenty of birdlife in the park - watch out for the seagulls 'paddling' the grass for earthworms, and listen out for the green woodpeckers yaffling in the woodland near Oldbury Court and Snuff Mills.
Sport and recreation
Begbrook Green Park has a bowling green, football pitches and all weather pitches. Click here for more information on availability and booking.
