ESS is only available to council employees.
If you're a Bristol City Council (BCC) employee, you can use a personal device (not one supplied by BCC) such as your mobile phone, tablet or laptop to log into Employee Self Service (ESS) on iTrent.
Log into ESS from your personal device
There are 2 ways to do this.
For users who are BCC employees not in a school, you will need to link your personal device to your single-sign on account before you can access ESS. To do this, pdf follow our how-to guide (235 KB) .
For users who are BCC employees within a school, you will need to use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) . To set this up, pdf follow our how-to guide (1.06 MB) .
When you are ready to log in to ESS, you'll need:
- your council email address. If you don't have a BCC email address, you'll need to contact the HR advice centre, your line manager can give you their details if you don't have access to the Intranet.
- your employee number, your line manager can find this for you on Manager Self Service (MSS)
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
MFA is quick and easy to use.
You'll need to install an authenticator app on your personal device, such as:
After you log in, you'll be asked for a one-time security code that will be generated by the authenticator app. Once you've added the code, you'll be able to see your iTrent (ESS) account.
Set up your memorable information
It's really important to set up your memorable information in ESS if you haven't already done so.
You'll need this information if you forget your username or password and need to access iTrent Employee Self Service from your personal device.
