Our website will be down for maintenance between 10am and midday, Monday 23 December. Sorry for any inconvenience.

There's a problem with our search function at the moment, if you can't find what you're looking for please use Google or Bing.

If you're evacuated in an emergency, the emergency services will direct you to a community place of safety.

We've set up the community places of safety scheme so that you'll have somewhere to go for temporary shelter in an emergency like a flood or a gas leak.

We'll send staff to the place of safety to support everyone who has been evacuated.

The place of safety will ideally have:

  • 24 hour access
  • disabled access
  • toilets
  • heating
  • basic kitchen facilities

The place of safety may be open for up to 8 hours. If it's still not safe for you to return home after this time, we'll find alternative accommodation for you.
