Introduction

Bristol Link with Nicaragua (BLINC) is the voluntary association which set up and develops the link with Puerto Morazan. It works especially with under-fives through its registered charity Friends of Morazan (number 1111253). BLINC maintains a Nicaraguan part-time development worker in Leon, the regional capital.

Did you know...

  • BLINC arranges and pays for the visit of a Fairtrade cocoa or coffee producer to Bristol for the annual Fairtrade Fortnight to work with more than 2,000 local children and students in schools, colleges and universities in Bristol, Bath and South Glos.
  • In Puerto Morazan, Friends of Morazan (FoM) has now built its 10th new pre-school for under fives in partnership with the Nicaraguan Ministry of Education. FoM also supports and provides teacher training in the Montessori Method, plus teaching materials and the installation of latrines and classroom water filters.
  • BLINC works closely with the Nicaraguan Embassy in London to identify and participate in other opportunities to raise awareness in Bristol of the rich culture and commercial opportunities in Nicaragua, and to support the people of Puerto Morazán.
