Introduction
The Localism Act received royal assent on 15 November 2011.
This new legislation takes power from central government and hands it back to local authorities and communities, giving them freedom and flexibility to achieve their own ambitions. About the Act
The Act introduces several new rights and powers for communities and individuals, including:
- Community Right to Bid
- Community Right to Build
- Community Right to Challenge
- Neighbourhood Planning in Bristol
The Community Right to Bid came into force on 21 September 2012.
The Community Right to Build came into effect in April 2012.
The Community Right to Challenge came into force on 27 June 2012. Please contact the council's Procurement Team for more details.
