What a fire risk assessment is and how to find a fire risk assessment for a block of flats owned by the council.

We carry out fire risk assessments of all our blocks of flats.

They're carried out once a year for high rise blocks and sheltered schemes. For most other blocks it's every two years.

What a fire risk assessment is

A fire risk assessment is an inspection carried out by a qualified fire engineer that assesses the risk from fire of the block of flats.

The assessment is of the communal areas of the block. It does not include access to any flats.

The assessment includes recommended actions. Some work is done straight away. Other work may be done as part of a maintenance programme.
