If you have a baby or a young child, you can come to our song, rhyme and story time sessions. Suitable for 0 to 3 year olds.

Storytime is suitable for children aged 1 to 4 years.

Come to a rhyme and story time session

All our libraries share nursery rhymes and songs with families and babies for around 20 minutes every week. See the timetable below.

One of our librarians leads the singing. Some libraries have rattles and musical instruments for the children. Some libraries share a short story.

We welcome older siblings too.

The sessions are free.

You don't need to book, unless you want to go to a session at St George Library. You must book at this library because demand for the sessions is high.

How rhyme and story time helps

Singing rhymes with babies helps:

  • language development
  • bonding between parent or carer and child
  • children's understanding of the world around them

For more information, and to join a rhyme and story time session, contact your local library.

Where and when sessions take place

Sessions run during term times (unless stated otherwise) at these libraries.
