If your business has a premises in an RPS area you can apply for business and customer permits.

Business permits

Business permits are for operational vehicles that are insured for business use.

You can have two vehicles on each permit so you can swap the permit between the vehicles. It will only cover one vehicle at a time.

Customer permits

Customer permits can be used by any vehicle.

How many permits you can get

Businesses can apply for up to seven permits.

You can get any combination of business and customer permits, up to seven in total.

Get business and customer permits

You apply for and manage business and customer parking online. Our business permits are now digital so nothing needs to be displayed in the vehicle.  Customer permits will continue to be paper permits and will need to be displayed in the vehicle when used.

Your permits will be active straight after your application has been approved and paid for.

Business and customer permits must not be used for staff commuter parking.

If you haven't got a MiPermit account to register and apply online you'll need:

  • an email address to register
  • your business rates NNDR account number, If you don't have this, you'll need to contact your Head Office or the bill payer to get the account number
  • your  business postcode 
  • a debit or credit card to pay for your permit(s)
  • for business permits only you'll need a vehicle registration certificate V5C (log book) for each vehicle, you:
    • must ensure the vehicle is registered in the name of the business or in the name of an individual who can be shown to use the vehicle for business purposes
    • must ensure the vehicle is insured for business use
    • don't need to upload the vehicle registration certificate or insurance documents when applying for a business permit, but you may be asked to provide them later
    • may have your permit cancelled without a refund if you don't provide a valid vehicle registration certificate, or if the vehicle is not registered to the business or to someone who uses it for business purposes
    • may have your permit cancelled without a refund if the vehicle is not insured for business use
    • will receive an email giving you 48 hours' notice if we intend to cancel your permit without a refund

  • Business permits are £271 each
  • Customer permits are £282 each

Businesses in receipt of full Small Business Rate Relief, charities (as defined in section 1 of the Charities Act 2011), places of worship (as defined in Section 10 of the Equalities Act 2011) and educational establishments (who meet the definition of a school in Section 4 of the 1996 Education Act) can get a discount:

  • Business discounted: £159
  • Customer discounted: £170

All other areas

  • Business permits are £342 each
  • Customer permits are £356 each

  • Discounted business permit: £200
  • Discounted customer permit: £214

Paying quarterly

When you apply for your digital permits you can choose to pay by quarterly instalments. You can choose to auto renew to renew for a maximum of 12 months.

Annual renewal of  your business and customer permits

You need to apply for new digital business and customer permits three weeks before your paper or digital permit expires.
