About our library book-bikes and how to book them for an event.

We have 3 specially commissioned cargo bikes that aim to provide books and library services into local communities.

The bikes are part of our outreach programme called Words on Wheels.

They will allow us to go directly into communities who don't currently use libraries to show what's on offer.

Their versatile design means we can tailor the contents of the bikes to suit the type of event we attend to include things like:

  • big books
  • blankets and cushions for a cosy story-time in a park
  • internet enabled tablets and books on writing CVs for a pop-up job club on the high street

Book a bike for an event

If you have an event taking place in the community and would like us to attend with a library book-bike, email library.ideas@bristol.gov.uk

How the project is funded

Words on Wheels is an Arts Council England funded project.
