About our Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES) Action Plan.

In 2021, we volunteered to take part in the social care Workforce Race Equality Standard, a year-long initiative run by the Department for Health and Social Care with Skills for Care.

The WRES programme aims to progress workforce race equality in adult and children’s social care and empower local authorities to address any gaps or concerns of inequality in their workforce.

The programme creates a framework for progressing workforce race equality and requires local authorities to collect and submit data on an annual basis on nine key metrics which highlight differences in experience of Black, Asian and minoritised staff.

Findings from the programme are used to inform the development of an Action Plan.

The plan aims to build on and accelerate existing work, drawing on existing plans including Service Plans and Equality Action Plans.
